Join LOSV Battlefields!

(e-3D)*OLDSCHOOL
By SHADOW

(e-3D)*CLASSICS
By EDIS

The master server for the nFusion type games has been shut down in 2014 together with the GameSpy itself.
This means that our hosted servers are no longer visible on the Multiplayer server list.
However, many people still play these games on TUNNGLE (tunngle is hosting a large amount of old and new games).

In order to join our servers (or host your own) you need to download Tunngle and register with their site (to get your login details).
Once done, please log in onto your Tunngle and go > Network Explorer > Shooter > Tactical Shooter > Line of Sight - Vietnam.
When you run the game all servers will be shown on LAN mode.

Beginner's Guide

Tunngle doesn't require any additional setup in order to play a game.

To join/host a game:

1. Download Tunngle - https://www.tunngle.net/en/download2. Install Tunngle3. Register with the Tunngle website - https://www.tunngle.net/account/register/. Your Username and Password will be required to Login on Tunngle.4. Start Tunngle and log in (at the bottom of the interface)5. Search for a Network Name. Select a Genre on the left > Network Explorer > Shooter > Tactical Shooter > Line of Sight - Vietnam6. Double click the desired Network Name in the Network Browser that opens up in the middleTunngle will now Enter the NetworkOnce you've entered the network, you should see the other active members in the Network Nick List at the right7. Start the game8. Go to the Multiplayer in-game Menu9. Select LAN10. Search for LAN GamesIf you need a tutorial for the game you can use the DON'T PANIC Button or the Video Button

Read more on Tunngle.

Optional Port Forwarding instructions (if needed):

Port Forward

The way Tunngle works is it creates a virtual LAN room. Once you join that room you are connected with everyone on there. You can see their servers and they will be able to join yours.

We all knew this might happen, we all were surprised it lasted so long...
Seems that fun things cant last forever...

Summary:
On May 31st, the company (GameSpy) is shutting down its servers for good, and as a result, a bunch of games are losing their online capabilities.

There is a list of GameSpy sported titles, I guess these will be the ones that go dark. Losv is on it.

Original thred
http://www.engadget.com/2014/04/04/gamespy-shutting-down-servers/
List
http://www.poweredbygamespy.com/projects/2003-titles/

We'll have to wait till May 31st, then we'll know for sure.

The new era for LOSV might be coming, as we have recently found some of its interesting features.

Even though its an old, 'glitchy', simple and well known game for us. LOSV has kept on surprising us over the years.
Perhaps the fact, this game has never been totally developed and left with countless models, parts, paths, etc hidden among its files is what makes it so unpredictable.

We found its possible to launch both versions having only 1 game installed, invented our own game mode which we call coop-dm, you can even use the shortcut ctrl+v to paste the server IP. Not to mention all the rest of the features that has often been used for bad intentions.

This time we have come across something even more fascinating (SHADOW found this to be specific). Even though the LOSV does not support the in-game download (which is why you can use your own map regardless its completely different from the one anyone else has got) it still downloads some specific data from a server. For instance, waepdef, playerAI etc.

So now we have several original maps (including missions) on our mind which are going to be modified (nothing new here right), just this time everyone will be able to see and play it the same way.
It works like this:
1. Player joins with an original map;
2. Server sends the data of changes made;
3. Player's map changes so he can play our game mode.

It is really amazing because you don't need to download and install any maps, patches or mods for this to work.

See you around

xfire Losv plugin on Win7

Just a quick note for those who used it. Xfire Losv plugin on Win7 is working after all (32bit for sure, but 64 must be the same). Microsoft couldn't help it, had to make things more complicated.
In Win7 due to all "Administrator rules, permissions stuff" some files are located in different places.
So our needed xfire_games.ini is located in C:\ProgramData\Xfire ( if you can not access it, folder might be hidden, if so make sure you can see hidden files).

I knew there are files for that (blinking) in losv. An exmaple of that: Hidden in losv.. but cant remember to spot it in action. Maybe I did, long time ago, anyway now it felt like a surprise (for me).
In case it is a surprise for you as well, have a look:

it appears that usa soldiers, few vietnamese villagers and only 1 from nva, vc - the officer has this option working. Also only in single player mode (as far as I checked).

Most of u have probably noticed, that wer updating the embattl3D channel.
New videos have been uploaded. At the moment our target is tutorials.
So after all we have the following tutorials on utube:
'LOSV weed-off'
'LOSV grenades tower1'
'LOSV grenades tower2'
'LOSV grenades tower3'
'LOSV grenades tower4'
Im working with the 'Base grenades' tutorial (eliminating the most common targets over the map) at the moment, and it still needs more material.
The next project is the 'Base sniper' tutorial, where Im gonna demonstrate, expose the best ways of takin out snipers at towers, sumtimes without even being seen. Im sure the most of u will find smth new n interesting.
I have plans with burntforrest, missionarry n perhaps village. Thats gonna b just a show of sum nice sniping n nades. Not as detailed as Base tutorials.
Still I dont think theres a point of making nades n sniping tutorials for any other map apart from base. So thats gonna b a mix of everyhin in 1 vid for a few maps ive mentioned above.
For fun, Im thinkin of sum extraordinary 'red name shot', its a skill or not...well 4 u 2 decide, in my opinion its a sort skill, however its not an appropriate way of playin.
Interesting ideas are welcome.
